A Waking Slap: Day 3

So four days ago I said that I was going to begin a goal of finishing not only a book, but also a manuscript. It’s been a tough three days to really finishing anything note worthy, but I feel very accomplished with what I have done.

To start I picked a book on day 1. It was a book which I have already been working on and have been very influenced by it lately. It strange that I get influenced by a book that you yourself are writing, but sometimes I forget what my goal for that book is. I had to force myself to sit down and write bits and pieces of an outline on day 1 and some of day 2. Though the outline isn’t finished I feel accomplished that my rough draft for a plot is laid out.

So my first goal was to finally pick a blasted name for the book because if I don’t do that after the first few pages then I spend my time thinking of possible book names instead of the book itself. Then it was off to decide how many pages I was going to push myself to write each day. After much struggle with my mother’s good opinion I made it a good two whole pages on the lovely OpenOffice.org which has been faithful to me since day one. Finally I had to set myself to a guess of how many pages I desired for the book to give myself a time line as to not get off task.

So its day 3 and my small goals are all set and I’m doing my best to fulfill them each and every day the sun comes back up. I thought it would be nifty to give a little outline of my progress so those of you watchers, or lurkers as Stickam calls it, and commenters can see my progress yourself.

Progress:
Day 3 / Day 365
18 pages / goal 400+
Wish me luck!

A Waking Slap

As ‘newbie’ to blogging I’m stilling circling around trying to think about just what I would like to blog about. There are days when my mother and I sit down and talk then suddenly I’ll think: That would be an awesome journey to blog about. There are many things I’m good at that I’m also passionate about, but just how passionate can you get before you go overboard?

Technology. The center of the modern world to be honest. My entire family has some grasp on technology, especially computers. For instance, my brother is fantastic with computer graphic designs and should have gone to college to improve this skill. So it got to me and thoughts began to percolate in my head; why don’t I see what computer skills I have. Well I found them pretty easily when I spoke to my friend about wanting to create a blog. I’ve always had a basic grasp on web design and html code. So I thought I could do a blog about technology and my opinion about things that are related to that subject. In the end I began to feel discontent to my blog and I would be frantic about what technology I would write about next and how many tech blogs are already out there. So I’ve decided to drop the idea of basing things around that.

In truth my new idea for a blog came when I was watching Julie and Julia. She blogs with a count down except she is cooking out of a cook book. Well I have come to conclusion that my time would be best served surrounded by my passion for writing. God, its like second nature to me. I have so many short stories that have never been finished and so many notes to so many books that have yet to fly. So from this day on I’ve decided my time in a blog is best spent keeping myself focused on the book inside my head.

I will, for the next 365 days, (starting tomorrow) work on one book (which I still have to pick) and complete it and the manuscript. It’s hard really because I’m one of those writers who gets an idea.

BING!

Yes that is exactly what I want to write about go! <— That my friends is my brain at the very instant 1 idea comes to me.

Going down a mathematical sidewalk I’m figuring I have ideas almost around 157 times a day… That 6 ideas every hour. Except they don’t happen on a timed schedule, like I can just switch over its more like…

Bing! (Yes an-) Bing! Bing! (oooh anoth-) Bing Bing Bing Bing….. overload… (okay nap!)

So now for the first time in my life! I am going to conquer the Bing!s and finish one book, for better or for worse.

Wish me Good luck!

Keeping A Modern Look

Here, here my friends come look at what I have discovered. Is it a great news and I’m so excited to share it with you all! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I heard about how much money we plan on wasting on a speed-rail that in fact we are not even going to spend the money on. In fact the money shall be spent on two things. Fixing our old trains to go 90-110 mph and building real speed rails in areas that are more heavily populated such as New York, Florida, and California. The fact in all that I was sorely disappointed about was that this oh so great speed-rail would really cost around $500 billion for a job well done and we are only spending a small total of $billion on the speed-rails and the old trains.

In my personal opinion if we plan on spending all this money then instead of spending a tiny bit here and a tiny bit there we should just built one whole system. Speaking to a good friend of my mine, we both agreed that building a speed rail from Maine to Florida would connect the east coast. This could be a simple start for our supposed speed rails. As time would go one this rail could continue on from Florida to California. Connecting the east coast to the West and passing through the South in the process. To finish the circle my friend and I agreed that if we could get Canada to agree we could build this rail from California to Alaska, finally connecting 49 of the 50 states. Then from Washington we could connect back to Maine; going through all the major cities. This would not only unit travels from driving to larger out-of-state cities, but would help transport goods across the nation.

Questions come to my mind as though God has blessed us with money to throw at this. Where, my friends, is this holy money to afford all these things? So my questions to you my fellow readers are: If you had the money how would you build? And where would you start building it?

Customer Service

So in high school I studying HTML and CSS to earn myself college credits so I can further the study once I do enter college. After speaking on the phone with my Aunt Paula, I have begun to question the need of a modern web designer. Today people would rather pay for program to design the website instead of having someone design it for them.

I’ve begun to think to myself that isn’t this eliminating the service of human contact? I know that when I have a train of thought become derailed it always helps to speak to another. In my search to see if any would truly like to cut out the expert college graduate and pay for the program I discovered that very few people actually pay for someone to build a site for them. Most people today want a website to help them do it themselves.

So then came the question in my mind: Are we so detached? The truth is that as people we are becoming more and more self efficient that I’ve noticed a serious decline in the need/want for human contact. Simply here I have proven my point by instead of getting on a phone to discuss this theory I have gone online and posted a blog where in people (who I have never met before) can post their opinions/spam/hate and I can read.

So is the social detachment so great that we have slowly become something that relies on the machine to do it for us? Now I feel like I’m pushing this towards a Terminator line. No no no… this is about the now, not Hollywood.

So the question I’m really asking would you prefer  a do-it-yourself machine or do you enjoy the comfort of working with another human being?

All Hail… The IPad?

So Apple has come out with another tool for their market, but is the IPad really as good as they say? Watching G4 last night I watched as the creator of the IPad tried his best to defend it, but when they got on to the subject of the IPad he disappeared. Most of the people who handled an IPad as simply saying its just a big IPhone. At rueters.com I read two articles relating to the IPad and I’m still not convinced its worth $499 for the 16GB. I could put my money into an Xbox360 and PS3 and get more bang for my buck then the promises Apple has for the IPad.

We’re giving the Ipad glory for its computer capablities… what capablities? My advice is look around, read some articles and take this baby for a test drive before you really decide to blow $499 on the cheapest IPad.

The New Year of 2010

Well, what is there to say? Welcome 2010! I am ready to see what you’re willing to bring into my life! To start with, let’s go over a review of this past year. One of the most interesting things that I observed through the year of 2009 was most definitely President Muhammad Ahmadinejad’s election in Iran. I’ve never watched something so full of codfish in all of my life when it comes to politics. The poll out turn and everything that followed including his speech at the U.N. was unbelievable. I may only be 18, but I kept my eyes on that there because as an American I have fellow Americans fighting in that region. If you close your eyes and let the world pass you by I bet it will.

The second thing to catch my attention was the Health Care plan that President Barack has been going over. In all honesty I do not like this plan at all due to the amount of money it will take out of Social Security. Look citizens were in debt as it is, why not save every penny and just put off with this health care plan. Lets think of it like this. 1. If you have health care are you really concerned about this  plan being passed? If not, you should because now your taxes aren’t going into your retirement, but instead you’re paying for the health insurance of the guy next to you. Maybe he doesn’t have a job or isn’t working, but you’re going to start paying for his medical bills with your taxes because its only fair. 2. If you don’t have health care then you may be all for this plan. The only question I can ask as a young adult is: Yes you now have money you don’t have to spend on health care, but don’t you want to be responsible for your own safety and not have someone else foot the bill? If your fine not paying than I can’t really say anything because moochers bother me too much.

Another note of things that I’ve noticed in the year of 2009. I’ll head to a different side of things. Technology. Wow I’ve seen some pretty amazing technology come out in 2009. The commercial for the Droid was absolutely amazing! Even HTC’s new phone had me in a whirl. The Onyx Boox is now available in the US and I’m amazed I ever got my hands on one of those pretty things. Christmas had to be fun for those of you with a little extra caching to spend.

Well those were my highlights of 2009. I hope 2010 can deliver some more gadgets for me to get my hands on and also a little more light one both the American President and the Iranian President. Heres to the New Year!
